And, my goodness it was divine. I had no idea, guys. The sales dude was new and hadn't been in one, yet, so it was the longest test drive ever and I didn't want to get out of the car. I've rarely been so impressed. Just wanted to get that out there because I can't stop thinking about it. My car crushes are usually old, small, and French machines.

Awesome! My friend is getting his in December. I'm looking forward to convincing him to let me behind the wheel.

Anything in particular that really impressed you?

The things that you can only do without a salesperson present will really impress you.

Just about everything, actually. It was perfect. I don't drive a lot of new cars, so maybe I'm easily impressed, but usually new sticks bug me because the clutches are way too soft and I'm not used to such a short throw between gears. I understand the benefit of a light clutch, but I need at least a little resistance and this car did it right and there was enough room on the shifts that things didn't happen before I realized it. I didn't feel any turbo lag and the "punch" didn't level off like with some turbos. I've read that the Fiesta is even better, so I want to try it, but I think I'd like the slightly larger car better which goes against my instincts.

I can tell. Now to figure out how to make it mine.

Awesome! Thanks for your thoughts! I personally really want to give the Fiesta ST a flogging. I've driven the Focus ST and it is very very nice. Unfortunately too expensive in Canada =( Also, it's pretty hard to get. Back order into December at the moment.

I own one, I've owned a lot of cars. This is my second favorite next to the FR-S. Except I fit in the ST and so does my stuff

Love my Fiesta ST, chose it over the Focus for reasons of better clutch, gearbox, and less torque-steer.

What's better about the clutch and gearbox? I got used to the Focus's torque steer fairly quickly and I kind of enjoy working a little when I drive anyway.

I've got to mirror Jonee's comments here, any objective data to support?

i think the Fiesta's clutch has better feel and a little longer engagement point, that makes it much more pleasant to drive in traffic. As for the gearbox I felt the stick movements were a little better defined. I'll never argue that the Focus isn't faster, but for my daily commute the Fiesta is much more enjoyable. When I was stuck in traffic on my Focus ST test drive I just wanted it to be over, rather than having to carefully reign in the car while slogging through the stop and go.

I am very tempted to buy a used one as a DD

And then get something really fun and stupid and loud and flashy and unique as a weekender
